About The Event

‘Did I Work Today’ draws on a multi-disciplinary approach consisting of performative painting that is set in a condensed physical space and time frame. Inviting the audience to observe the ordinarily unseen messy and awkward tasks of creativity and domestic maintenance.

The audience is invited to witness the position I hold while trying to manage each role. The repetitive actions of wiping and brushing that both undertakings require. The domestic repetition and disruption reflected in the redacting and repainting of the canvas of my daughter’s body on the kitchen table.

The attendance to the vinyl both highlighting the cyclical role of each generation and the table as a stage for this play out on.

About the artist

Donna divides her time between Portsmouth and London. Predominantly using paint as her main medium and more recently incorporating audio, film, publishing and performance into her practice. Her current interests are around the themes of liminality, transitory spaces and experiences, with particular attention to the unseen work or domesticity.
